Junta de Andalucía leverages Fuzion to enable Smart City application in remote region of Spain

Managing security at the extensive and remote Pilgrimage of the Virgin of Cabeza, with over 500,000 attendees dispersed across the Sierra de Andújar Natural Park, required constant and efficient vigilance.

Detecting abnormal behaviors and managing real-time emergencies in such a challenging natural environment was crucial. Consequently, the Emergency Services of the Junta de Andalucía sought a solution from NTT Data and Galgus to meet these needs. Additionally, the lack of access to electrical networks for the Galgus Wi-Fi access points near the chapel presented a significant challenge, which Fuzion effectively addressed.

NTT Data deployed 12 Galgus Wi-Fi access points in total, both indoor and outdoor, leveraging location and presence analysis technology. This technology enables highly reliable data on occupancy levels in various areas to prevent overcrowding by offering alternative routes, monitoring restricted areas, and generating alerts for the customer. Furthermore, it leverages AI to predict pilgrim behavior. The anonymity of the data is guaranteed, as it is encrypted and anonymized by AI at the point of capture. 

Galgus access points were powered by the Fuzion FTP-300 in areas where there was no access to grid power. Leveraging solar power, the FTP-300 ensured perfect uptime of the Galgus access points and constant capture of the critical presence and analysis data.

In the deployed solution, the Galgus Wi-Fi access point is connected to the FTP-300 via one of the two Ethernet ports for 48V power (only). Internet access is enabled via the built-in SIM card for mobile connectivity. The solution doesn’t require separate PoE injectors and there is a minimum of cabling required. It can be deployed anywhere there is access to a mobile network.

The Fuzion FTP-300 is a durable solar charged power solution with PoE in a small form factor ideal for Wi-Fi hotspots, microwave radios, cellular gateways, surveillance cameras and more. The FTP-300 is designed for "deploy-and-forget" installations in remote areas and for operation under harsh environmental conditions.
